Art Programs
Art in the Parks

Take time to look at nature through an artistic lens. Experience an opportunity to sketch the awe-inspiring aspects of county parks through a process of observation, contemplation, and visualization. Absolutely no experience in the arts is needed. Volunteer naturalists will guide your journey with ideas, some direction, and an opportunity to practice various skills.
Through a series of five programs, we will explore basic sketching principles to make your experience unique and fun filled. Programs will be the second Saturday of the month at either Walden Ponds or Pella Crossing. Various topics of focus will be noted in each registration page.
Wander, Wonder, and Watercolor

Slow your pace and deepen your connection with nature through mindful observation and nature journaling. These programs blend quiet exploration of Walden Ponds with simple watercolor techniques, fun prompts, and field journaling practices. No experience is needed, and all supplies are provided. Volunteer naturalists will guide you through observation exercises and help you capture your discoveries on the page.
Offered twice a year, each session creates space to wander, reflect, and record the wonders you notice.
