Community Partnership Grant

The Boulder County Department of Human Services works closely with local organizations to help all people in our community who need support, with an emphasis on populations that have been historically underserved. Our Human Services Community Partnership Grant funds local resources to enhance the well-being of those who call Boulder County home. This funding helps create opportunities for individuals and families to succeed, strengthens our community, and builds a resilient and sustainable future.

In 2024, we renamed this grant from the “Human Services Safety Net Grant” to the “Human Services Community Partnership Grant.” This new name reflects our use of various funding sources and emphasizes our commitment to collaboration in this program.

Since 2017, the following priority areas have been identified to help target where Human Services funding goes:

  1. Housing and Homelessness Prevention: Programming or services focused on increasing the ability for people to obtain and maintain housing. This includes but is not limited to rental assistance, legal representation for housing, sheltering, pathways to housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, and other services to keep people housed.
  2. Education and Skill Building: Programming or services focused on advancing childhood development and academic achievement for people of all ages. This includes but is not limited to childcare, academic support, and training.
  3. Health and Well-Being, including Mental and Behavioral Health: Programming or services focused on supporting people to prevent illness, maintain, and improve physical and/or behavioral health, and increase healthy behaviors. This includes but is not limited to direct health care services and wellness, as well as food security and nutrition.
  4. Individual and Family Supports: Programming or services focused on improving quality of life, increasing economic stability and resilience, and increasing safe environments for people with diverse identities. This includes but is not limited to Family Resource Centers, financial assistance, financial literacy or other forms of self-sufficiency assistance, advocacy, legal representation and protection from violence or other forms of vulnerability, and social connectivity.

Funding from the Human Services Community Partnership Grant is primarily made through a competitive process based on alignment with Boulder County Department of Human Services goals and priority areas. The grant process takes place twice each year, with the next funding round in 2024 for 2025-2026 funding.

For the Human Services Community Partnership Grant, funding from the following sources are used:

  • Fund 132: Human Services Safety Net Mill Levy (HSSN)
  • Fund 101: General Operations Fund
  • Fund 120: Health and Human Services Fund

The application period for the 2025 Community Partnership Grant has closed. We appreciate the interest from Boulder County’s nonprofit community. For questions, contact the Community Partnership Grant team at HSCommPartnershipGrant@bouldercounty.gov
