Colorado House Bill 1041, known as the Areas and Activities of State Interest Act, was enacted in 1974 and allows local governments to regulate a variety of development activities with guidance from the state. The purpose of the Act is to describe and designate areas and activities which may be of state interest and to encourage local governments to establish criteria for the administration of these areas and activities.
Generally, development may only proceed if consistent with the environmental and developmental goals of the local communities as outlined in their 1041 regulations. Read more: Boulder County Land Use Code – Article 8.
