Agriculture Land Valuation

Agriculture Land Valuation

Agricultural Land Value and Colorado Law

Agricultural land is defined in the Colorado Revised Statutes as found in the Assessors’ Reference Library (ARL), Volume 3, Chapter 5, Pages 5.2–5.4, PDF Pages 184–186. For further information, see the Classification and Valuation of Agricultural Property in Colorado brochure.

The assessor periodically reviews agricultural land to verify that it is still being used for agricultural purposes. This can include a request for a copy of the previous year’s income tax form (1040-F), a grazing lease, or a completed agricultural land classification questionnaire. The assessor may also conduct a physical inspection of the land.

Applying for Agricultural Classification

If your property is not currently classified as agricultural, but you think it should be, you may download and complete an Agricultural Land Questionnaire. Attach any supporting documentation and email it to assessor@bouldercounty.org, FAX it to 303-441-4996, or mail it to:

Boulder County Assessor’s Office
PO Box 471
Boulder, CO 80306-0471

Please note that the classification of your property will not be based solely on the information you supply.
