For the third year in a row, Boulder County has awarded funding to fire protection districts that serve rural and mountain communities. Grant funds are used for lifesaving medical and firefighting equipment, personal protective gear, emergency vehicles, communications upgrades, and fire station improvements.

Boulder County’s Health Coverage Guides are hearing from residents who are seeing an increase in health insurance premiums of 50% to 100% or much more for 2026, adding hundreds of additional dollars a month to their household budgets.

Boulder County is launching three grant programs in December to support nature-based climate solutions: the Soil Health Initiative, Grey to Green Fund, and Sustainable Food and Agriculture Fund.

During the eight-month budget process, the Boulder County Commissioners worked with the county’s budget and finance team, elected officials, and department heads to create a budget that balances the needs of the community, the impacts of inflation, and uncertainty around future revenue from property taxes and sales and use taxes.
