Program Summary: | Limber pine is an ecologically valuable species serving many functional roles in higher elevation ecosystems. Across its range, limber pine is facing multiple threats including mountain pine beetle, white pine blister rust, and dwarf mistletoe. The presence of these agents individually can lead to extensive tree mortality, their combined impact can be even more devastating, posing a significant threat to the long-term sustainability of the species. One strategy to aid in the recovery of the species is to get more limber pine on the landscape by planting seedlings. Volunteers are needed to plant limber pine seedlings on one of our mountain properties. |
