Some intern work may be done remotely, though preference will be given to interns able to work regularly in Boulder County’s downtown offices. (1325 Pearl St., Boulder)

Some work requires travel to other Boulder County communities (personal car helpful, but not required).

Program Summary:

Boulder County is seeking a Sustainability Outreach Intern. This Intern will be responsible for supporting outreach and education efforts related to Boulder County’s EnergySmart energy efficiency program. This position will work with and report to EnergySmart staff to achieve the goal of making Boulder County a model for sustainable practices. Interns will be our ambassadors to businesses, community groups, and/or at countywide events (including some evenings and/or weekends) and represent the sustainability message to our constituents.

This position is available for 8-12 hours/week, unpaid. Boulder County can work with your educational institution to support internship credit if appropriate.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Organize and help implement community outreach events, including thinking creatively on approaches to get residents and businesses engaged with EnergySmart. Represent EnergySmart at conferences, fairs, concerts, farmers’ markets, etc. Perform related work as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Requirements:
Completed a Bachelor’s degree and/or working toward a Bachelor’s degree related to Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Sociology, Education, Marketing or related field.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.Passion for, or interest in learning about, energy efficiency, building science and people.

Desired Abilities and Qualities:
Spanish-speaking preferred. Demonstrated community outreach experience with preference for local experience. Ability to research, analyze and synthesize complex information. Ability to take initiative and work independently. Strong interpersonal skills. Dedication to creating a sustainable Boulder County.
