Introduction
The work represents the final phase of a Transportation Sales Tax-funded corridor project that will address the aging concrete surface on South Boulder Road from east of Manhattan Drive, city limits, to Cherryvale Road.
Project Scope
As described in the sales tax initiative, the project will include:
- Cherryvale Road and South Boulder Road intersection safety improvements;
- Asphalt paving from Manhattan Drive to Cherryvale Road;
- New underpass for the City of Boulder’s South Boulder Creek Trail that will be taller and wider than the current underpass;
- New pedestrian facilities; and,
- New fencing
Cherryvale and South Boulder Road Intersection Roundabout
A cost-benefit analysis that evaluated safety and cost determined that the current signalized intersection at South Boulder and Cherryvale roads should be reconstructed as a roundabout.
