On Nov. 5, 2024, residents of Homestead (proposed district) voted to form a Public Improvement District (PID). With the approved ballot item, a mill levy was be imposed within the district to pay the costs of resurfacing county roads within the district.
The Public Improvement District is a county-neighborhood partnership, where the county will fund 100 percent of the initial cost of construction and the Homestead PID will reimburse the county 70 percent of this initial cost via its taxing authority. After the 70 percent is paid to the county, which is expected to take approximately eight years, the remaining funds gathered from taxing will be put towards future resurfacing work, as needed.
