Art in the Parks

Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat 3893 N. 75th St., Boulder

Take time to look at nature through an artistic lens. Experience an opportunity to sketch the awe-inspiring aspects of our county parks through a process of observation, contemplation, and visualization. Absolutely no experience in the arts is needed. Volunteer naturalists will guide your journey with ideas, some direction, and an opportunity to practice various skills. Through a series of five programs, we will explore basic sketching principles to make your experience unique and fun filled. We will explore four different influential artistic styles and their origin in art history. Using that information and perspective, we will practice each of those particular styles with nature as our muse. The four styles to be covered include: Impressionism, Expressionism, Surrealism, and Abstract. All materials will be provided, but if you prefer your own supplies, feel welcome to bring them.
