What is Human Trafficking?
Human trafficking is a severe form of exploitation for labor, which may include commercial sex through force, fraud or coercion. In some cases, traffickers trick, defraud or physically force victims into providing labor or commercial sex. In other cases, victims are lied to, assaulted, threatened or manipulated into working under inhumane, illegal or otherwise unacceptable conditions. Human trafficking is a multi-billion-dollar criminal industry that denies freedom to 24.9 million people around the world.
