Background
The bridge that funnels Dry Creek #3 underneath Baseline Road east of Baseline Reservoir is in need of replacement. Public Works will replace the existing bridge with a larger structure that will increase drainage capacity. In addition, crews will replace the guardrail, restore the creek’s alignment, improve neighboring wetlands, and repave and restripe the project area.
Timeline
The project will take place in two phases. During phase one, in order to complete the bridge project, Xcel Energy will need to relocate a gas main and nearby overhead electrical wires. During phase two, Public Works and our contractor will complete the bridge installation.
- Phase I – Xcel – March 11, 2026 (anticipated start date) and into April
- Phase II – Public Works – Starts Fall/Winter 2026 (exact dates still to be determined)
Travel Impacts
Both phases of construction will require a full closure of Baseline Road. Travelers on east and westbound Baseline Road will be detoured to South Boulder Road or Arapahoe Road. See a map of the detour and project location.
Trailhead Closure
The City of Boulder’s Dry Creek Trailhead will also be closed during both Xcel’s and the county’s phases of the project.
RTD Bus 225
All bus stops for RTD’s 225 bus route will be closed between 75th Street and Cherryvale Road. The 225 will be detoured to South Boulder Road during both phases of construction.
