Learn More About Hard Rock Mining
The Nederland Mining Museum is just one of many ways Boulder County preserves our mining history.
Assay Office Museum
Visit the Assay Office Museum in Wall Street and see where people learned if they had “struck it rich” with their mining. Miners would take the ore they got out of the mines to the assayer. He used heat and chemicals to test the ore to find out what percentage of precious minerals were in the miner’s finds.
Virtual Hard Rock Mining Tour
Take a virtual tour of Boulder County’s mining history. A map shows locations and information about the prominent mines of this area. The Switzerland Trail Railroad also gets special attention for its role in the mining industry and life in Boulder County in general.
