Land Through The Lens Photo Exhibit

Land Through The Lens is a chance to showcase beautiful photographs captured on Boulder County Parks & Open Space properties. The event is held every other year and is open to everyone. The event promotes the discovery, understanding and enjoyment of our parks and open space through the photographic celebration of the natural world.

The next Land Through The Lens exhibit will be in 2022.

Photography and painting sessions are scheduled throughout the summer and posted on the Hikes & Events Calendar.

Exhibit

The exhibit opening will be held on Friday, Aug. 9, 5-8 p.m. at the The Great Frame Up Longmont.

The opening will be catered by Guillaume’s European Catering.

The exhibit will run through Sept. 6.

Prizes

The Best in Show ($500)
2^nd Place ($300)
3^rd Place ($200)
Fresh Vision Award ($250): Selection and prize juror, David Silver has generously offered to donate half of his prize money from the 2017 exhibit toward this prize for the 2019 show. Jurors will be looking for an image that invites new possibilities of seeing the environment differently than from a habitual way of seeing- something that can help point us beyond a literal way of looking at our surroundings toward appreciating a deeper connection within ourselves that is reflected in the landscape around us.
Honorable Mention Prizes: Three photos will be selected.
Commissioners’ Choice Award: The commissioners purchase these pieces and display them in a prominent location in a county building.
People’s Choice Award: Chosen by the public by voting at the exhibit.

Submissions

Photos must feature Boulder County Parks & Open Space land. Photos of other open space properties such as Chautauqua Park, Boulder Falls, and Rocky Mountain National Park will not be accepted.
Photographers may submit up to 5 photographs.
Photos must be in jpg format.
The application fee is $30.
The application deadline is June 19.
