Food Assistance (SNAP)

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as SNAP or “Food Stamps”, provides nutritional food assistance for households who meet certain eligibility criteria. While the program won’t meet all nutritional needs for a household, it can help a family or individual buy groceries each month. Learn more about SNAP.

Funded Providers

Area Agencies on Aging provide funding to organization for essential services as well as provide direct services. The BCAAA has a blend of services around nutrition. For Fiscal Year 2024 (July 1, 2023-June 30-2024), the BCAAA provided funding to provide nutrition services for older people to the following entities:

  • City of Louisville Senior Services (Congregate Meals)
  • Nederland Area Seniors (Congregate Meals and Home Delivered Meals)
  • Project Angel Heart (Home Delivered Meals)
  • Boulder Nutrition and Exercise Services (Nutrition Counseling and Education)
  • Satya Williams (Nutrition Counseling and Education)

Nutrition Counseling and Education

No-cost nutrition counseling is available from our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists. Counseling in English is available at 303-678-6115 or en español at 720-930-0223.

Fresh Conversations is an evidence-based nutrition education program focused on timely nutrition topics presented monthly. Fresh Conversations is led by Patti Murphy, RDN. The program is held virtually over Zoom.

The BCAAA provides direct nutrition services at the following locations:

  • Red Stone Cafe (Walt Self Senior Housing, 335 Railroad Ave., Lyons)
    • Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays – Lunch at noon
    • Reservations: Call 303-441-1415 by 1 p.m. the day before lunch.
  • Lunch Bunch (Highlands Camp and Retreat Center, 1306 Business Hwy 7, Allenspark)
    • Thursday, noon-1 p.m.
    • Reservations: Call Cindy Rockett at 303-747-0556 by the Sunday before the meal.
