Wildland fire near the 700 block of North Cedar Brook Road in Boulder County, CO

Boulder County, Colo.

On
April 19th, 2017, at
approximately 6:38 p.m. Boulder County Communications received several reports
of a wildland fire in the area of Lee Hill Drive and Olde Stage Road. A plume
of smoke could be seen from many points in the City of Boulder. The fire was
ultimately located northeast of the 700 block of North Cedar Brook Road on City
of Boulder Open Space land.


The Ridge Fire burned an estimated 2 acres although a more accurate assessment
will be made at first light. No structures were damaged. No firefighters were
injured.

There were approximately 40 firefighters from Boulder Mountain Fire Protection
District, Lyons Fire, Lefthand Fire, Boulder Rural Fire-Rescue, Sunshine Fire,
Mountain View Fire, City of Boulder Wildland Fire, Sheriff's Office Fire Crew
and deputies, and Boulder Emergency Squad. Additional personnel from
American Medical Response and Rocky Mountain Rescue responded.

Two individuals, one adult and one juvenile, were contacted by sheriff's
deputies in the immediate area of the fire. The adult female, unknown age
or identifying information had to be evacuated from the scene because of the
steep terrain by Rocky Mountain Rescue. She was transported to a local
hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time but may have been suffering
from a medical condition. The juvenile male was not injured.

Fire Crews will monitor the area to ensure the fire doesn’t flare up. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The
case number assigned to this incident is 17-2280.
