Washers and dryers donated to Boulder County Circles families in need

Making the holidays a little brighter for ten local families

Boulder County, Colo. - The Boulder County Circles™ Campaign, Mountain High Appliance, and Whirlpool are teaming up to make this holiday season a little brighter for 10 Boulder County Circles™ Leaders currently living in poverty. The Louisville-based family-owned appliance company, Mountain High Appliance, is delivering 10 washer and dryer pairs to the selected families completely free of charge, starting Dec. 18.

The Circles™ Campaign is a national movement whose primary goal is to bring an end to poverty one family at a time. Circles™ is a support-driven system in which volunteer “Allies” help and support the “Circles™ Leaders,” and guide them in making decisions that will empower them to succeed in life, and work their way out of poverty. They accomplish this by focusing on doing things “with” not “for” those in need.

Charlene Ford led an Allies team to raise money to make the donations possible. Mountain High Appliance sold the units at wholesale cost, and also donated work time to deliver and install the washers and dryers. “We had a great community effort to make this possible,” says Ford. “From the Circles participants, to our funders, to Mountain High Appliance, everyone pulled together to make a difference for these families.”

Not everyone may think of a washer and dryer as luxury items, but for the majority of Circles™ members they can be life changing. This donation will enable these parents in need to wash their clothes within the comfort of their own homes, and allow them more time to focus on making a better future for themselves and their families.

“Boulder County Circles works with families for 18 months and supports change and growth with the help of very dedicated volunteers,” says Susana Lopez-Baker, Program Specialist, Boulder County Circles™ Campaign. Having access to a washer and dryer is not something families in poverty always have. To have partners and volunteers willing to raise funds that will directly impact our Boulder County community is incredible. Thank you Mountain High Appliance and all those who donated funds to a great cause.”

This will be Mountain High Appliance’s second year taking part in this Boulder County Circles™ program. Owner Brad Barnett is excited about the opportunity to participate, and is looking forward to hearing about the Leaders success stories through their involvement in Boulder County Circles™.

“Mountain High Appliance will be turning 25 years old in 2018 and I am eternally grateful that our company is still able to focus on making a difference where it truly matters… in the community,” says Brad Barnett, President, Mountain High
Appliance. “We are excited to deliver these laundry pairs to the Boulder County Circles members and are anxious to see them succeed.”
