Unidentified body discovered on second day of search near Ward, CO

Boulder County, Colo.

On February 11th, 2017, a hiker reported finding what appeared to be a deceased person in a remote mountain area in the 13,000 block of Lefthand Canyon Drive, in unincorporated Boulder County, Colorado. Deputies with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office searched in the area indicated by the reporting party, but were unable to locate anything before dark. The search was called off at that time; with a plan to resume searching upon day break.

On February 12th, 2017, members with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Boulder County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services, Boulder County Coroner's Office and Rocky Mountain Rescue Group returned to search area. Searchers were able to locate an unidentified deceased person.

The cause and manner of death, as well as the identity of the deceased, are currently under investigation by Sheriff's Office detectives and Coroner's Office investigators.
