Unattended Death at the 44.4 mile marker of the Peak to Peak Highway

Boulder County, Colo. - On February 7, 2017 at approximately 3:16 pm, deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office along with members of the Indian Peaks Fire Protection District and American Medical Response (AMR) responded to the 44.4 mile marker of the Peak to Peak Highway also known as Highway 72 on the report of an unresponsive female in a car.

Upon arrival it appeared the 54 year old female had suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No foul play is suspected at this time. Investigators from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office and the Boulder County Coroner's Office responded to the scene and the matter is still under investigation. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until the coroner's office is able to notify the party's next of kin. The sheriff's office will continue investigating the incident in conjunction with the coroner's office.

The sheriff's office case number for this case is 17-775. No further information is available at this time.
