Unattended death at Eldora Mountain Ski Resort, in Boulder County, CO
23 year old male deceased in skiing accident
Boulder County, Colo.
On March 7th, 2017, at approximately 1035 hours,
the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Nederland Fire Department, Boulder County
Coroner’s Office, Eldora Mountain Resort Ski Patrol and American Medical
Response (AMR) responded to the Eldora Mountain Resort, at 2861 Eldora Ski Road
in unincorporated Boulder County, Colorado on the report of an injured skier,
who was unconscious and not breathing.
Members with the Eldora Mountain Resort Ski Patrol were
notified of an injured skier on the Mule Shoe run, which is a black diamond
run, who crashed and then hit a tree.
Once on scene, the Ski Patrol found a 23 year old male unconscious and
not breathing. CPR was immediately initiated.
An ambulance from AMR was summoned to the scene and paramedics
continued CPR in an attempt to revive the male.
Despite their efforts, the male was pronounced deceased, by the
paramedic on scene and on the advice of an on-duty ER doctor.
The deceased was wearing a
helmet at the time of this incident.
This unattended death is being jointly investigated by the
Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and the Boulder County Coroner’s office. The identity of the deceased is being
withheld until next of kin can be notified.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office case number for this
incident is #17-1355.
