Training course to help family caregivers thrive begins June 7

Registration required, classes
are held Tuesdays afternoons

Boulder County, Colo. - Powerful Tools
for Caregivers,” an 18-hour course sponsored by Boulder County Area Agency on
Aging, a division of Community Services, will begin in June in Boulder. The
course is for family caregivers of older adults and provides them with the tools
to help them thrive, not just survive, throughout their caregiving
responsibilities.

Tuesdays, June 7 – July 19 (no class June 21), 1:30 – 4 p.m.
Where:
Calvary Bible Church, 3245 Kalmia Avenue, Boulder

“Powerful Tools for Caregivers” is an evidence-based course
proven to help family caregivers enhance their self-care, reduce stress levels,
and feel better in general about their caregiving. It covers topics such as
communicating effectively, asking for help, making action plans for self-care, and
using helpful resources. One caregiver who took the course said, “The class was
excellent. It helped me set realistic expectations of myself as a caregiver,
and I really enjoyed hearing others share. It made me feel involved and less
isolated.”

“Powerful Tools for Caregivers” is open to Boulder County
residents providing care for a relative, partner or friend who is age 60 or
over, or of any age if the person has dementia. There is no charge for the
course, but donations are appreciated.

or 303-678-6116. Financial assistance for respite care (substitute elder care
during class sessions) is available to participants.
