Suspicious package in Lyons, Colorado examined by the Boulder County Regional Bomb Squad and determined to be rendered safe
Boulder County, Colo.
On June 19th, 2017, at approximately 3:42 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Lyons Volunteer Fire Department and the Boulder County Regional Bomb Squad responded to the 300 block of Main Street in Lyons, Colorado on the report of a suspicious package.
The suspicious package was described as an unclaimed, unmarked card board box, with no postage or address, and wrapped in black electrical tape. It was sitting on the sidewalk in front of a local business in the 300 block of Main Street. The area around the suspicious package was cordoned off and a perimeter was maintained until the Boulder County Regional Bomb Squad arrived on scene.
Members with the Bomb Squad used protective equipment and an X-ray device to examine the package. Traffic was stopped on Main street as the package was being examined.
Bomb Squad members determined the package was not a threat and the package was rendered safe.
