Structure fire in the 2,000 block of Caribou Road

A shed and residence caught fire west of Nederland

Boulder County, Colo. - On Monday, November 13, at approximately 12:47 p.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a 911 call about a structure fire in the 2,000 block of Caribou Road, west of Nederland in unincorporated Boulder County.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered a shed and a single-family residence with smoke and flames visible. The fire appears to have originated in the shed and spread to the residence, which became fully engulfed. A few surrounding trees also caught on fire, but fire fighters were able to extinguish the trees and keep the fire from spreading.

One resident and a pet were able to get out of the residence on their own, before first responders arrived on scene, and do not have any injuries. It does not appear that the structure was occupied by any other person or animal.

Responding agencies included the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Nederland Fire Department, Timberline Fire Protection District, Sugarloaf Fire protection District, and AMR ambulance.

The Sheriff's Office and fire personnel will be investigating to determine the cause and origin of the fire, which is undetermined at this time. The investigation will be conducted with the assistance of the Boulder County Multi-Agency Fire Investigation Team (MAFIT).

The associated BCSO case number for this incident is: 17-6628.
