Structure Fire

Boulder County, Colo. - At approximately 12:45 a.m. the Boulder County Communications Center received a 911 call from the home owners regarding a structure fire in the 7100 block of Oriole Lane within Boulder County, Colorado.

Upon arrival, members from the Mountain View Fire Protection District and deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office found a fully engulfed chicken coup and loafing shed.

Deputies learned approximately 25 chicks from the chicken coup were lost. The home owners were able to get 2 horses to safety. Neighbors were notified of the fire as a precaution but no evacuations were necessary. No injuries were reported.

Both the chicken coup and loafing shed were a total loss. The fire was suspected to be caused from a heating lamp used to warm the chicks. At this time the exact cause of the fire is unknown but does not appear to be suspicious but is still under investigation.
