Sex offender, with felony warrants, taken into custody

Stephen Broussard was
wanted out of Louisiana

Boulder County, Colo. - On June 29, members of the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office,
Boulder County Drug Task Force, Lafayette Police Department, and the Federal
Bureau of Investigation (FBI) assisted the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (Louisiana)
by apprehending a registered sex offender, who they suspected was in Boulder
County.

The FBI was able to utilize their Cellular Analysis Survey
Team to narrow down the search area for the suspect using cellular information,
which was relayed to local law enforcement.

The sex offender, Stephen Broussard, 09/16/1980, and a
16-year-old runaway were later contacted off of County Road 116, which is located
off of the Peak to Peak Highway in unincorporated Boulder County. Both parties
were taken into custody without incident near their campsite.

The male suspect was wanted on two extraditable felony warrants
out of Louisiana for “failure to register as a sex offender” and “contributing
to the delinquency of Juveniles.” The female runaway was placed into custody
with Boulder County Housing and Human Services.

The suspect is expected to be extradited back to Louisiana.

The associated case number is: 17-3719.
