RTD adds more weekday and Saturday trips on regional L route

Enhanced service now operating between Longmont and Denver – RideTheL.com

Boulder County, Colo. - Thanks
in part to a federal Transportation Improvements Program (TIP) Grant, Boulder
County and the Regional Transportation District (RTD) have partnered to expand
services for the regional L Route that runs between Longmont and Denver’s Union
Station and also serves the communities in between, including: Lafayette;
Broomfield; and, Westminster.

The
expanded service now includes:

Longmont to
Denver (southbound)

o
Five
new daily weekday trips

o
Seven
new Saturday trips

Denver to
Longmont (northbound)

o
Three
new daily weekday trips

o
Seven
new Saturday trips

With
the addition of the new Saturday trips, regional transit service is now offered
almost all day and evening between Longmont and Denver.

“The
enhanced service offerings really open up an entirely new dimension for transit
riders in the Longmont to Denver corridor,” said Boulder County Transit Planner
Jared Hall. “Whether you’re a commuter or are just looking to head to the city
for an event or dinner, the L can now get you there and back quickly and
conveniently. Not to mention the fact you’ll save money on gas and parking,
prevent wear and tear on your own vehicle, and help save the environment by
reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions.”

For
those that aren’t headed all the way into Denver, there are multiple stops in
between that also serve numerous local routes, making it even easier to ride
the bus throughout the northwestern Denver metro area. In addition, people can
ride the L to Union Station and hop on the new University of Colorado A Line to
get to DIA. With a little bit of planning, people can go almost anywhere in the
area without having to get into their own car.

“We are quite pleased to be able to work
with our funding partners to provide this extended service,” said Assistant
General Manager of Communications Scott Reed. “This will help give Longmont
residents even more commuting options throughout the metro area.”
