County seeking feedback on recent studies

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder
County Transportation will host a public meeting to present information and
collect feedback on recent studies that will help shape the future of travel on
Arapahoe Road/State Highway (SH) 7.

A presentation
of study findings will be followed by a discussion and question and answer
session.

• Learn more about
  a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Feasibility Study that was commissioned to:
• Determine
  the feasibility of BRT on the SH 7 corridor between Brighton and Boulder County
• Identify
  a range of plausible transit operations scenarios
• Develop
  land use recommendations around station areas
• Gain
  an understanding of potential economic impacts around station areas

Learn more about
and provide feedback on a Planning & Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study
that examined SH 7 between 75th Street and U.S. Hwy 287 in order to
identify future transportation improvements designed to:

• Enhance
  safety for all users
• Meet
  growing demand for mobility within and through the corridor for all modes of
  transportation
• Respect
  local values by preserving the rural, natural, and historic characteristics of
  the area
• Ensure
  the route remains a viable transportation corridor that anticipates regional
  population and employment growth.

Both
studies are available by visiting bouldercounty.gov/roads
and clicking on the “Arapahoe Road/SH 7 Mobility Improvement Studies” link. Those
who cannot attend the meeting can learn more and use an online comment form to
provide comments.

The
studies are a continuation of work started by CDOT and RTD, also available on
the website, to identify necessary traffic/travel improvements between Boulder
and Brighton. The county conducted its own study on the specific stretch of
Arapahoe Road between 75th Street and U.S. Hwy 287 to provide a
closer examination of a major portion of the road that lies within
unincorporated Boulder County and to develop a cohesive operations plan for the
corridor.

“With
the completion of the BRT and PEL studies, we have a much clearer picture of
current conditions on Arapahoe Road and the possibilities for improving
transportation for the growing number of people who use this important
east/west corridor every day,” said Transportation Director George Gerstle.
“This meeting is a great opportunity for the public to let us know if we’re on
the right track or if there are things we’re missing, so that the work leads to
the best possible outcomes for everyone.”
