Fallen Climber at Eldorado Canyon State Park

Boulder County, Colo. --On Saturday, February 18, 2017, at approximately 3:35pm, Boulder County Dispatch received a 911 call in reference to a 17 year old male who had fallen approximately 20 - 25 feet, while climbing the "Windtower" rock feature inside Eldorado Canyon State Park. The state park is located a 9 Kneale Road, unincorporated Boulder County (a few miles south of the City of Boulder). According to the caller, the teenager possibly broke his arm during the fall, but was conscious and breathing.

Rescuers from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, and Rocky Mountain Fire Authority responded to the scene. Once rescuers arrived, they determined the teen was still stuck to the side of the rock feature. This in turn has led to a technical rescue, requiring the use of trained rock climbers from Rocky Mountain Rescue Group (an all volunteer organization designated by the Sheriff's Office to assist with search and rescue situations throughout Boulder County).

Other details about the incident are unknown at this time, as the rescue is still actively being worked.

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office case number for this incident is 17-1012.
