Public invited to participate in the formation of the 2017 Boulder County Budget

Public invited to attend scheduled meetings presented by department heads, elected officials, and budget staff

Boulder County, Colo. - The Boulder County
Commissioners will hold public meetings in
September – and a public hearing in October – to consider 2017 budget requests
from county departments and elected offices. A schedule of all meetings is
available on the
budget calendar*.

Departmental Budget Request Presentations

Members of the
public are invited to attend each department head’s or elected official’s
budget presentation where they will present their 2017 budget expenditure requests:

  • Tuesday, Sept.
    6 at 2 p.m.
    (Capital Improvements and
    I.T.
    ) – Building Services, Information Technology, Fleet Services
  • Thursday,
    Sept. 8 at 11 a.m.
    (Transportation,
    Conservation, Administration
    ) – Flood
    Recovery, Parks & Open Space, Boulder County Fair, Transportation, Emerald
    Ash Borer, Administrative Services
  • Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. (Public Safety/Judicial) – Coroner, District Attorney, Sheriff, Non-Profit
    Emergency Groups, Integrated Treatment Court, Community Justice Services
  • Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. (General Government and
    Land/Property)
    – Assessor, Board of
    County Commissioners, Niwot LID, Eldorado Springs LID, Clerk & Recorder,
    Land Use, Treasurer, Surveyor
  • Thursday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. (Health & Human Services) – Community Services, Public Health, Housing &

Budget Meetings & Public Hearing

The Budget Office
will present a proposed Recommended 2017
Budget
to the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) at a public meeting at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13. The
BOCC will then hold a public hearing
12 days after the presentation in order to give residents time to review and
comment on the proposed expenditures. The Recommended 2017 Budget will be
posted on the Budget webpage.

Residents are invited to attend a Public Hearing scheduled for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25
to provide comments on the recommended budget. (Additionally, written comments about
the Recommended 2017 Budget may be submitted at any time to: commissioners@bouldercounty.org.)

The County Commissioners will conduct a 2017 Budget Work Session to consider
all proposed budget items and provide funding directives to the Budget Office
from 3:30-5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10. The public
is invited to attend the work session, but no public testimony will be taken.

The final 2017 Budget
will be adopted on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 1 p.m.

All meetings will
take place in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room on the 3rd floor of the Boulder
County Courthouse at 1325 Pearl St. in Boulder. The meetings will be webstreamed
“live” and archived for future viewing at bouldercounty.gov/gov/meetings/pages/hearings.aspx.
