Public Hearing: Proposed Amendments to the Boulder County Land Use Code Floodplain Regulations – Sept. 1, 2016

Meetings are held in the Commissioners' Hearing Room, Downtown Courthouse, 3rd Floor, 1325 Pearl Street, Boulder, Colo. (map) unless otherwise noted. The DLH Room and the Small Conference Room are also located on the third floor of the downtown courthouse. Commissioners' meetings and hearings are webstreamed "live" and archived for viewing online. Public comments are taken at meetings designated as Public Hearings.
The Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Thursday, Sept. 1 to discuss the proposed amendments to floodplain regulations in the Land Use Code:

- When: Thursday, Sept. 1 at 11 a.m.
- Where: Commissioners’ Hearing Room, 3rd Floor, 1325 Pearl St., Boulder
No changes to the floodplain maps which define the floodplain overlay district would occur as part of this regulatory update. The proposed updates only affect unincorporated areas of Boulder County.

Background
In the proposed amendments, the county has created transparent processes for use of new flood hazard studies and best available flood hazard data, clarified existing federal, state, and county regulatory requirements, streamlined permitting for minor projects, and added development criteria to better protect the health, safety, and welfare of the residents of and visitors to the unincorporated areas of Boulder County.
On Aug. 17, the Boulder County Planning Commission unanimously approved (6-0) a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners that proposed amendments to the Boulder County Land Use Code floodplain regulations should be adopted. These proposed changes include updates to Land Use Code Article 4-400 and related provisions which govern the Floodplain Overlay District.
