Prescribed Burns Planned for Fall 2015 – Community Meeting Sept. 22

Boulder County Parks and Open Space will host a community meeting on Tuesday, September 22, from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Lyons Fire Department, 251 Broadway St. in Lyons, about prescribed burns at Heil Valley Ranch and Hall Ranch planned for this fall. The main focus of the meeting will be the Nighthawk burn at Hall Ranch.

The possible burn dates (exact days are dependent on weather):

• Nighthawk at Hall Ranch - between Oct. 12 and 16.
• Overlook at Heil Valley Ranch – between Sept. 28 and Oct. 2.
• Wapiti 2 at Heil Valley Ranch - between Oct. 26 and 31.

Heil Valley Ranch and Hall Ranch will be closed completely during active ignition days. Each date will be posted on the web site and notifications will be sent by email. The exact closure dates will be dependent on weather conditions. Specific areas will reopen as soon as it’s deemed safe to do so by fire personnel.
