Overlay project on Flagstaff Road starts Sept. 26

Expect delays; Avoid construction zone, if possible

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder
County’s Transportation Department will begin an overlay project on Monday,
Sept. 26 on Flagstaff Road. Work will take place between the Boulder city
limits on Baseline Road and the Halfway House parking lot, which is located across
from the Flagstaff House restaurant on Flagstaff Road. Work will take place
from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and is expected to last until
mid-October, weather permitting.

During
construction, travel will be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic in both
directions. Traffic control personnel will be used to safely move motor
vehicles and cyclists through the work area. Travelers can expect short delays.
During non-working hours, both lanes will be reopened, but road conditions in
the construction zone may be less than ideal as the top layers of asphalt will
be removed, so please use caution when moving through the area. Boulder County
will do its best to ensure safe travel for all modes throughout the project’s
duration.

Access
to Gregory Canyon Road will be maintained, but there may be delays entering and
exiting the trailhead area when equipment is moving in front of the road. In
addition, four parking spaces at the Halfway House parking area will be
reserved as a construction staging area and therefore will not be available to
the public during the work.

Overlay
operations rehabilitate roads by milling off the old road surface and applying
a new layer of asphalt. The road will also be restriped after paving operations
are complete. While Boulder County Transportation and its contractors strive to
complete all projects on-time, work is weather dependent and there may be
delays due to unfavorable working conditions.
