New
bridge southwest of the Town of Lyons off SH 7 being built to replace the structure destroyed during the 2013 flood

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder
County Transportation will begin a flood recovery project on Old St. Vrain Road at 7 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 21. The project involves:

• Removing
  the remaining pieces of the old bridge that was destroyed
• Building
  a new bridge
• Repairing
  the adjoining road

The
project is expected to last until the late spring of 2018.

The
new bridge will be 180-feet long, 110-feet longer than the bridge that was
washed away, and has been designed to withstand a 100-year flood.

Boulder
County Parks and Open Space are also working on a stream restoration project in
this area, so expect heavy truck traffic along Old St. Vrain Road. Boulder
County Transportation is not planning on closing the road during construction,
but is advising all travelers (cars, bikes, and pedestrians) to avoid the area
during working hours, which are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please
do not enter the work site at any time. Trespassers could face fines and/or
jail time.
