North 83rd Street flood recovery project starts Wednesday, March 9

Road closed through August for bridge construction

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder
County Transportation will begin construction of a new bridge on North 83
rd
Street over the Little Thompson River at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9.

To
accommodate the project, North 83
rd Street will be closed 24/7
between Woodland Road on the south and Larimer County Road 4 on the north. The
project and associated road closure is anticipated to last through August 2016,
weather permitting.

The
2013 flood event destroyed the previously existing 64’ long bridge and
surrounding roadway. A temporary culvert system was installed after waters
receded. A new 250’ long bridge is being constructed that will better
accommodate large flows and make the roadway more resilient during future flood
events.
