Public meeting regarding construction –
Monday, Dec. 7
Boulder
County, CFL and Kelley Trucking will host a public meeting on Monday, Dec. 7 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Altona
Grange – 9386 N. 39th St, Boulder - to share project
information, discuss travel restrictions, and answer questions.
CFL
and Boulder County are collaborating on the design and reconstruction of
permanent repairs to Lefthand Canyon Drive and creek improvements in areas
adjacent to the areas where road reconstruction will be occurring.
“By
partnering with Central Federal Lands, we were presented with an opportunity to
improve the design and accelerate the construction schedule in Lefthand
Canyon,” said Boulder County Transportation Director George Gerstle. “CFL is
equipped and well-skilled to handle projects of this magnitude and together we can
build a road that is more resilient against future extreme weather events and make
it safer for everyone who uses the road. The project includes not only reconstruction
of the damaged road sections, but also better shoulders to improve safety for
everyone who uses the canyon, four new bridges where the road crosses the creek
and restoration of the Lefthand Creek in areas adjacent to the road, all of
which will be a vast improvement for the ecological health of the whole
watershed.”
