Lefthand Canyon Drive Update – 1-hour closures required for paving operations
Hello -
I'd like to apologize to anyone who was stopped and turned away today when they reached Olde Stage Road or the intersection with James Canyon Drive as working conditions changed without my knowledge and I wasn't able to report back to the public in time.
Due to the massive grading and paving operation taking place in between on Lefthand Canyon Drive between Olde Stage and James Canyon, the contractor will once again enact the 1-hour closures between 8 a.m and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Pilot vehicles will escort travelers through the construction zone each hour on the hour until 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5. There are simply too many people and pieces of equipment working on the road in this stretch for travelers to safely move through the area while work is taking place.
With the longer delays in effect, crews should be able to pave all the way to the cut just east of James Canyon Drive by next Friday. There will then be a two week stop on paving operations as other work takes precedence farther west up the canyon and at the new bridge site east of Olde Stage Road.
Again I'm sorry if you had to take a long detour today.
I hope you have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Andrew
