Lefthand Canyon construction update for Jan. 13, 2016

Hello Boulder County Transportation Listserv Subscriber -

Construction in Lefthand Canyon is moving along on schedule. There is a ton of work taking place at various locations from Olde Stage Road to just past the intersection with James Canyon Drive. Work this week and next will be similar to what has been happening since the project began. Clearing of vegetation and overburden is taking place throughout the zone so crews can access and drill in the areas where blasting will occur. Blasting has begun and is typically undertaken twice a day on weekdays only. This work will continue for the foreseeable future. Work continues at two sites to prepare for the construction of new bridges. If you've traveled the canyon, you've likely driven over or past the two new bypass routes that have been established to accommodate bridge construction.

Weather has not been an issue and the near-term forecast doesn't show anything that would slow work down.

Travel Restriction Information:

I apologize to anyone who has been surprised by a closure and has been forced to take an alternate route or sit and wait for an opening. The contractor, Central Federal Lands, and Boulder County have been working hard to bring consistency to the delays and closures, and I believe we're getting close to dialing this in.

On weekdays, vehicles will continue to be allowed one pass in both directions through the work zone at 7, 7:30 and 8 a.m. before fully closing the road. The road will reopen at 4 and 4:30 p.m. for a pass in each direction before fully opening the road at 5 p.m.

On Saturdays, the road will be open every hour on the hour and every half hour for one pass in each direction until 5 p.m. when work ends for the day. No work will take place on Sundays.

All information is available at www.LefthandCanyon.com. Feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Thanks for your time, patience and understanding.

Have a good week.

Andrew
