Lefthand Canyon construction update for Feb. 22, 2016

Hello Lefthand Canyon Construction Listserv Member -

I hope you had a good weekend. The weather was great, but it looks like we're about to get a reminder that it is still winter.

Crews working in the canyon had another good week. Even with the wind, they were able to make significant progress on the project and all work remains on schedule. Rock and soil removal from the uphill side continues to be the number one priority. If you've traveled the canyon recently, you've seen that almost all of the material removed from the hillside is being reused to raise the road and to reinforce the stream-side (see the picture below). Crews are also making quick work of two new bridges, and they've even started to prep a third bridge location.

Work at the James/Lefthand intersection bridge this week may require delays that are a few minutes longer than you've experienced lately. The contractor is going to do their best to keep one lane of travel open at all times and will use flaggers to move people around the zone. There may be instances when they are moving equipment or using the single lane to accommodate construction, but they'll do their best to keep this to a minimum and will keep travelers moving to the best of their ability.

Thank you for your time, patience and understanding during this project.

Have a good week.

Sincerely,

Andrew
