Lefthand Canyon construction update – Expect longer delays for the next week

Hello Lefthand listserv subscriber -

After talking with the contractor, I learned that work between James Canyon and Lee Hill is taking more effort than anticipated and is requiring longer travel delays (15 to 20 minutes). This work should be complete by next Friday, May 6. After that, traffic will flow much easier and delays will be back to a few minutes, if necessary at all. Current work in this stretch is also requiring that trucks travel over Lee Hill. We've asked that the contractor use traffic control flaggers to ensure a safe passage for all along this route. Unfortunately, this translates into more delays for the next seven working days when trucks are passing over the hill. I've asked the contractor to try and keep them to a minimum during peak driving times (6 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m.), but they are necessary to keep the project moving forward on schedule.

I apologize for the rough stretch of delays over this week and through the next. If you can, I recommend trying to hit the travel windows on Lefthand Canyon Drive at 6, 6:30, 7, 7:30, and 8 a.m. If that's not possible, please give yourself some extra time to get to your destination. Kelley Trucking has assured me that delays will be as short as safely possible.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Have a good day.

Andrew
