Land Conservation Awards Ceremony April 14

Boulder County, Colo. - The Boulder County Commissioners and Parks and Open Space staff will present their annual Land Conservation Awards Thursday, April 14, at 3 p.m. at the Boulder County Parks and Open Space office, 5201 St. Vrain Road, Longmont.

The commissioners will present the following awards:

Land Conservation Award to the Toll Family and The Conservation Fund for outstanding achievement in land preservation and stewardship through the protection of the Tolland Ranch.

Jim McKee will be honored posthumously with the award for Environmental Stewardship for outstanding achievement exemplified by more than 25 years of service as a volunteer naturalist.

Jules Van Thuyne will receive the Heritage Award for his commitment to historic preservation through the purchase and renovation of the historic Vicklund House.

The Partnership Award will go to the CU Program for Writing and Rhetoric for outstanding achievement as an Alpine Partner in the Partnership Initiative Program through the contribution of over 1,000 hours on 15 volunteer projects.

Volunteer Awards will be presented this year to Blair Smallwood, who has volunteered as a Cultural History Volunteer since 2011, and Linda Garcia for her services as a Small Acreage Management (SAM) volunteer, a Wildlife Master, and a Master Gardener.
