Injured snowboarder at Eldora Moutain Resort in Boulder County, CO

25 year old male transported via helicopter after sustaining head injuries

Boulder County, Colo. -

On February 26th, 2017, members with the Eldora Ski Patrol, American Medical Response and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office were called to the Eldora Mountain Resort, at 2861 Eldora Ski Road in Boulder County, Colorado on the report of an injured snowboarder.

A local area 25 year old male was snowboarding in an area of the resort know as the terrain park. The male was using one of the rail features when he crashed head first into the snow sustaining serious head injuries. The male was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Members with the Eldora Ski Patrol arrived on scene first and rendered aid. The male was made ready for transport and taken back to the main lodge area, where paramedics with American Medical Response were waiting. After a medical evaluation, it was decided to transport the victim via medivac helicopter because of the severity of his injuries. As the ambulance was taking the victim to the awaiting Northern Colorado Medivac helicopter, the male stopped breathing. The AMR paramedic was able to stabilize the victim and transfer him to the helicopter.

The victim was flown to a Denver metro area hospital for treatment. Because of the life threatening nature of his injuries, his identity is being withheld until more is known about his condition.

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office case report number for this incident is #17-1162.
