Injured Mountain Biker near Allenspark

60-year-old male airlifted following a mountian bike accident

Boulder County, Colo.

On Thursday, September 14, 2017 at approximately 12:50 p.m.
the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Rocky Mountain Rescue, Allenspark Fire Department,
and Estes Park Ambulance responded to 50,000 Peak to Peak Hwy. (Camp Dick). on the
report of a fallen hiker.

David Moorehead 5/29/52 was actually mountain biking on the
Buchanan Pass trail near Timberland Falls when he fell forward onto the
handlebars of bike. He sustained a large
hematoma to his left upper thigh (groin area) and had possible internal
bleeding. Hikers were able to call 9-1-1
via cellphone to request assistance.

Rocky Mountain Rescue and Allenspark Fire Department evacuated
Moorehead off the trail, and back into the Camp Dick campground where he was
airlifted by helicopter to Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, by Northern
Colorado Medivac.
