Boulder County, Colo. - “Healthier Living”, a six-week workshop
sponsored by Boulder County Area Agency on Aging, a division of Community
Services, will begin June 16 in Boulder. Healthier Living is a chronic disease
self-management program developed by Stanford University. Participants learn
practical skills to manage ongoing health issues and live a healthier life.

When: Thursdays, June 16 – July 21, 9:30

Where: Tebo Cancer Center, 4715
Arapahoe, Boulder
Almost half of all older adults have at
least one chronic health condition such as heart disease, fibromyalgia, high
blood pressure, and arthritis. Living with an ongoing health problem can
significantly limit daily activities, zap a person’s energy and interfere with
quality of life. During the workshop participants learn skills to manage these
problems and get back to enjoying life.
The class includes instruction on how to
reduce stress, pain and fatigue, make healthier food choices, increase physical
activity, improve communication with health care providers, and set realistic
goals. A recent class participant described his experience by saying, “It gave
me the confidence and tools to effectively change my lifestyle for the better.”
Healthier Living is offered without
charge, however donations are appreciated. Registration is required.
