Grassland Fire: Town of Superior

Fire SH 128 / McCaslin Blvd (Northwest Section)

Boulder County, Colo. -


On February 22, 2017 at around 02:30 AM, a grass fire
was located by a Boulder County Sheriff’s deputy conducting routine
patrol of the area near Highway 128 and McCaslin Boulevard in the Town of
Superior, Boulder County, Colorado. The
fire was approximately 200 yards west of McCaslin Boulevard.

The fire was initially estimated to be 200 feet by 150 feet.
Fire crews from Rocky Mountain and Louisville Fire Protection Districts were
called to extinguish the fire. Hand crews were able to put out the fire
and limit damage to approximately 2 acres of grassland. No structures or
livestock were threatened or damaged. No evacuations were conducted. As of this press release fire/law command has
been terminated and the fire extinguished.

The cause of the fire is undetermined. Weather and
malfunctioning utilities are not believed to be involved. Human causes may be
responsible, but nothing specific has been identified.
