City of Boulder/Boulder County showcasing planning in action;
registration now open

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder
County’s Transportation and Land Use departments and the City of Boulder’s
Transportation Department will host a bike tour to showcase local examples of
community planning in action. The free ride will start at 8:45 a.m. leaving from
the Boulder County Courthouse parking lot, 1325 Pearl Street in Boulder. The
tour will conclude between noon and 1 p.m. at the Rayback Collective, 2775 Valmont
Road in Boulder.

The
25-mile loop between Boulder and Niwot will take riders to places where careful
community planning has helped make this area the special place it is today.
Riders will see examples and learn about how land use and transportation
planning, open space preservation, and water resource management have shaped
the City of Boulder and Boulder County’s past, present, and future.

“Boulder
County has a proud tradition of planning, and we’re excited to off this new
‘wheels on the ground’ bike tour to highlight some of the great things planning
has done for the community,” said Land Use Director Dale Case.

The
ride will take place on a mix of paved and dirt roads, and soft-surface and
concrete trails. View a map of

The route has an approximate total elevation gain of around 500 feet. An aid
station will be staffed in Niwot for riders to refill water bottles, grab a
quick bite, and take care of any minor adjustments their bikes may need before
heading back to Boulder.

Interested
participants are encouraged to register online
in advance
so tour organizers can better prepare for the event.
