Draft maps currently available online

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder
County Transportation and the State of Colorado has been hosting a series of
public meetings to present draft floodplain maps from FEMA and the Colorado
Hazard Mapping Program (CHAMP) for major stream corridors in unincorporated
county areas. These sessions have been an opportunity for the public to review draft
updated map information, and this meeting offers another opportunity for
affected communities to review the draft maps alongside project staff. Locations
outside of the defined map review areas will not be discussed.

meeting will include maps from unincorporated Boulder County areas listed
below, which include some areas already discussed at previous public meetings:

• NEW AREAS: North Boulder Creek from Hwy 72,
  Middle Boulder Creek from west of Eldora to Nederland, and South Boulder Creek
  from the county line to Gross Reservoir
• Jan. 31 meeting map areas: Two Mile Canyon
  Creek, Middle Boulder Creek & Boulder Creek from Barker Reservoir to
  upstream of Eben G. Fine Park, Lower Boulder Creek east of 61st Street, South
  Boulder Creek from Gross Reservoir to Eldorado Springs townsite, Rock Creek,
  and Coal Creek
• Jan. 19 meeting map areas: Cabin Creek,
  North, Middle, and South St. Vrain Creek(s) from Hwy 72 to upper Longmont Dam
  Rd (North St. Vrain) & just upstream of Red Gulch Rd. (South St. Vrain)
• Jan. 10 meeting map areas: Fourmile Canyon
  Creek upstream of Wagonwheel Gap Rd., Dry Creek #2, New Dry Creek, and the St.
  Vrain Creek outside of Longmont between 75th St. and East County
  Line Rd.)
• Dec. 13,2016 meeting map areas: North and South
  St. Vrain creeks from downstream of Longmont Dam Road and just upstream of Red
  Gulch Road to Lyons and St. Vrain Creek from Lyons east to 75th St.

Meeting
attendees can explore maps and provide feedback directly to project team
members. Boulder County wants the draft maps to accurately reflect local flood
risk, which is why residents living along these creeks are encouraged to get
involved and provide input at this stage. Comments gathered will be evaluated
and provided to the state team for their consideration during their next round
of revisions, floodplain modeling, and mapping.

draft floodplain maps for these waterways are available at the county’s
Floodplain Remapping Project website www.BoCoFloodplainRemapping.com
where there is more information about purchasing flood insurance, the county’s outreach
efforts, and how to get involved.

All comments related to these draft
maps must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 13 to be
incorporated into the county’s submission to CHAMP for their consideration.

Phase
II reaches will be available for review this fall and public meetings will be
scheduled and announced on the county website, the county
calendar, in project newsletters, via the listserv, social media (Facebook and
Twitter), and through the various watershed coalitions. Meeting materials will
be posted to the county website after each meeting.
