Rainbow Elders Newsletter-March 2018

For Boulder County's LGBT older adults, their families and allies

Michael Chifalo 3

Hello! I am the new LGBT Program Specialist at the Boulder County Area Agency on
Aging.
I am excited to work with both
Project Visibility and Rainbow Elders as I assist in serving Boulder County’s
LGBT older adults.
I was born and raised in
Pueblo, Colorado, where I visit often to see family and friends. I earned both a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Southern California in Los
Angeles.
In LA, I worked for a domestic
violence service agency, where we provided welfare-to-work services to
survivors of domestic violence who received public assistance.
I met my partner in California, and then moved
to his hometown of Mobile, Alabama, where I worked in post-adoption
services with the families of ten southwestern Alabama counties.
I then returned home to Colorado to work
in education at the University of Denver’s Graduate School of
Social Work where I continue to teach research, policy and practice classes part time.
I live in Denver with my partner and our two cats. Feel free to contact me at mchifalo@bouldercounty.org, 303.441.4518, our rainbow elders facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LGBTEldersBoCo/ or our project visibility facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/projectvisibilityboulder/.
