Discount Solar Purchase Program for Commercial Properties Launches

Boulder County businesses
can access significant discounts and rebates for rooftop solar

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder
County and its municipalities are launching a bulk purchase solar deal for commercial
property owners and businesses in owner-occupied buildings. By reducing the
price of rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV), adding financial incentives and
pairing businesses with their own energy advisor, the program makes it easier
and more affordable than ever for businesses and property owners to invest in clean
solar energy.

“We
have seen great success offering these opportunities to our residents, and we
are excited to now offer them to businesses too,” said Susie Strife,
Sustainability Coordinator for Boulder County. “33 percent of our countywide
greenhouse gas emissions come from commercial buildings, which makes this is an
incredible opportunity for our businesses to invest in a more sustainable future.”

Partners for a
Clean Environment

(PACE), the longstanding
countywide business sustainability service developed by Boulder County and the
City of Boulder, is partnering with top-rated local installer Namaste
Solar to provide group discounts on solar PV installations. In addition to the
discounted panels, Boulder County and the City of Boulder are adding at least
$140,000 in rebates for these projects, with up to $20,000 available for
individual projects.

“Many business and property owners have ideal
rooftops for solar but financing and complexity have historically been
barriers” Matt Lehrman, energy strategy coordinator for the City of Boulder.
“This program aims to reduce those barriers and assist business and property
owners to lower their carbon footprint and take control of fluctuating energy
costs.”

This
is a limited-time offer available to businesses and property owners in all
Boulder County communities. If interested, businesses should fill out and
submit the nonbinding
Intent
Form
by
April 30. A PACE advisor and Namaste Solar representative will contact businesses
for information needed to perform a PV system modeling and provide pricing
estimates.

Program History
Through
a competitive solicitation process, a community evaluation committee selected reputable
vendors to provide sustainability goods and services to Boulder County residents
and businesses at discounted prices. Last month the program launched a
residential solar offering with Namaste Solar, an electric vehicle offering
with Boulder Nissan and Gebhart BMW and an electric bike offering with multiple
vendors. The 2015 program, under the name Solar Benefits Colorado, facilitated the
purchase of more than 750kWh of residential rooftop solar and more than 248
electric cars across the Front Range.
