Detectives investigate man’s death near Kossler Lake on Flagstaff Mountain

The body of a 39-year-old man was discovered early this morning

Boulder County, Colo. - Just before 7:30 a.m. this morning, a man driving down Flagstaff Mountain discovered the body of a 39-year-old man near Kossler Lake, in the 5300 block of Flagstaff Road. The man immediately called 911.

Deputies, along with medical personnel from the Rocky Mountain Fire Protection District, responded to the scene, whereupon paramedics confirmed the man was deceased. The man's body was approximately 200 yards off the roadway, in a field, and his car was located a short distance away.

Sheriff's investigators are working in conjunction with medical investigators from the Boulder County Coroner's Office to identify the man and investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. The initial investigation suggests no foul play is involved.

The Coroner's Office is responsible for determining the man's identity, as well as determining the cause and manner of his death. Public identification of the decedent will be made by the Coroner's Office after his identity is confirmed and his family has been notified.

The case number associated with this investigation is 17-1668.
