Detectives investigate man’s death along Coal Creek Trail in eastern Boulder County
The body of a 28-year-old man was discovered early Wednesday evening
Boulder County, Colo. - At approximately 5:30pm, a person recreating along the Coal Creek Trail southeast of the intersection of E. South Boulder Road and S. 120th Street found the body of a 28-year-old man in a wooded area near the creek, just off the trail. The hiker immediately called 911 to report the situation.
Initially believing it was in their jurisdiction, officers from the Lafayette Police Department responded to assist, along with rescue personnel from the Lafayette Fire Department. Upon their arrival, they found the male, who was deceased, and also determined that the incident was in an unincorporated part of Boulder County. At that point, patrol deputies and a detective with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, along with an investigator from the Boulder County Coroner’s Office, responded to investigate the scene.
At this time there is no information to suggest foul play. Investigators from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office are working closely with the Boulder County Coroner’s Office to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. The Coroner’s Office will make the final determination as to the cause and manner of death. Public identification of the decedent will be made by the Coroner’s Office once family has been notified.
